Colonial Goods is a lifestyle brand at the core and this platform is sort of an amalgamation of the inspiration and stories behind the things we make and the people we meet.

The “Asian” aesthetic, especially that of China, is one that is rapidly evolving and expanding. We hope to share a different perspective from Hong Kong, and ultimately, to share things we appreciate. It’s also our pleasure to introduce everyone to the “Made in Hong Kong”.

“We just have to look at the future in a very different way from the way we’ve seen the past. Ever since Britiain’s industrial revolution, the world has essentially been shaped by the West. The  furniture which we’re familiar with as global furniture, is Western furniture. The arrivial of China as a major player will progressively change that picture. Not just economically. This is a much bigger story than just an economic change. What will happen is the Chinese template, as it were, will become increasingly important in shaping the world. The key point here is that Chinese modernity – which is an emerging phenomenon -  will not simply be a clone or replica of Western modernity. It will overlap with it, it has learned a lot from it, but it will be highly distinctive.”
